Our Story

As a cardiologist at a busy urban hospital, founder Dr. Philip Johnson grew accustomed to receiving a critically ill patient on a stretcher with a CD of critical information taped to his chest. Patient records were often faxed, while medical images arrived by mail, even from facilities just down the street.

Like his colleagues, Dr. Johnson was frustrated at the difficulties in accessing patient data. Yet his perspective was different. Prior to medical school, he had completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. For him, every delay served as a lesson on how to improve efficiency.

The first iteration of the platform enabled the secure transmission of Dicom images. Uploads from a referral could be accessed instantly by receiving physicians. Waiting time to initiate patient care shrunk from weeks to minutes.

As more physicians began using the platform, other useful features were added, including communication channels, procedural work-flow management systems, post-procedure surveillance, and a unique telemedicine hallway with a family communicator. As the platform advances, new features are being suggested and added, ensuring a never-ending improvement process.
